RULES ☼ PLOT ☼ WORLD THREAD ☼ APP TEMPLATE
The year is 1935, and the impossible has been accomplished.
Firstly, what we used to be able to do on the sea—travel, transport, fight—can now easily be done in the air. More durable, more agile, more powerful, more efficient airships can fly all across the globe. Thousands of airmen and women now fill the sky.
But they don’t share it.
The second impossible thing: Unity. Since the fall of the Great Roman Empire in the early 1700s, no power has been able to unite the people of the world. Separated into nations, they warred primitively, on sea, on land, underground for years and years. Nobles and monarchs led their people to die for their unjust causes, culminating in a world-wide war called the Great War To End Wars, but the violence did not end there. No change came until a benevolent few banded together and set out to unify the belligerent nations of the world through any means necessary.
Ah, but that was 35 years ago. Today, the result of this dream, the World Adunctio, stands proudly over its dominions—half or so of the world consolidated into the Union through anything from invasions to trade negotiations. The pacified nobles who once held such power live peacefully, gathered in the capital city of Bostonia. Great stretches in technology and society have been made throughout the world.
Still, all is not right yet. There can't be complete unity yet, according to the whispers in the military barracks and the island bars. Anarchists and pirates pose a great threat to the World Adunctio. Aided by the Eastern Confederacy, they fight for what they believe is a grand cause, freedom and independence from the Union. They’re lawless—yes, maybe lawless, but not in the wrong at all. There are strong rumors from the East that the World Adunctio is keeping its colonies on a tight leash, that the World Adunctio is instituting a kind of slave labor, that the World Adunctio is exploiting the far-away minorities with the use of addictive drugs….
Of course, those are but rumors. Only this is certain: whether their cause is valid or not, the rebels will rebel, and the World Adunctio Aerial Navy will fight back. As for the pirates—well, who can say? But when all forces take to the sky, there’s no telling who will soar and who will crash and burn.
